School of Advanced Studies - Laureate of the Best Public Space Award

On November 21, the Best Public Space Award 2019 ceremony was held in Moscow, where the UNK project became a laureate in the "Interiors of Educational Institutions" nomination. School of Advanced Studies - a new structural unit of Tyumen State University. It is built on different principles, with various programs and people than the rest of the university. Architects advised considering education as a constant process of communication, which occurs not only in the office during the lesson but also in the dining room. Moreover, the concept does not imply the abandonment of classrooms but expands the range of educational opportunities. Spaces are provided for individual work. There are transformable areas for different purposes, as well as large rooms for different groups. At the same time, a comprehensive educational environment is formed due to the different scales of indoor spaces and recreational areas. Variability and flexibility here are the foundations of creative, design thinking, which is created by the very space of the school. The Best Public Space Award is currently the only specialized award in designing public spaces. The winners are determined by the Professional panel, which includes over 70 distinguished professionals in architecture and interior design - winners of numerous competitions, widely known not only in Russia but also abroad, industry and opinion leaders.
